    forward looking depth sounders again

All these years I've trusted my regular "down looking" sounder, which saved me countless times. Once we get to the point (and maybe we already there) where FWD looking sounders are reliable and I learn how to use it properly, of course I would trust it.

    forward looking depth sounders again

Granted that on a clear day, a Nav equipment becomes an aid. But, it's important to have the reliable equipment and the knowledge to use it as primary navigation when looking out of the window doesn't present good picture for safe navigation. Didn't mean to go off topic.....I'd love to hear and...

    forward looking depth sounders again

New term for me too, but when bashing the "driving the plotter" operators, I think you have completely forgot that some people put tons of hours doing just that in poor or no visibility at all. Think of getting caught in thick fog, heavy rain and/or simply dark nights with no light pollution...

Are Cell Boosters worth the install/price?

I've tried this with a single antenna and results were disappointing. I happened to be in the "abstracted signal zone" with towers close by (within 1-2 miles range). My signal is only good enough for basic data usage. For anything more data demanding, including video conference calls, I'm...

    Hard starting Onan

This vital info was exactly what was missing in my picture of your situation. When giving my recommendations on troubleshooting steps, I assumed that all has been addressed on the fuel side, having clean fuel getting to the lift pump. Now it all makes sense. Obviously, until you ensure that both...

    Hard starting Onan

I could be missing something, but IMO the symptoms and the cause don't add up. If you had bad fuel and line blockage, it shouldn't fire up and just run fine. With dirty fuel you should easily see the racor getting crud build up. Dirty fuel issues are usually solved (at least temporary) with...

    Hard starting Onan

IMO, you just answered your own question. I've had my share of chasing an air leak for a while. However, the key symptom was generator shutdown after running for sometime (30min, 1hr, 2hrs...no consistency). Based on my experience, I can't imagine how the genny can run fine if you actually had...

    Nj. Icw

I've done the inside run between BI and AC many times, due to weather conditions. When the tide was not in favor, few years ago, I've witnessed a police boat getting stuck in the middle of the channel. So, watching the tides is very important. The stretch between AC and CM requires the same...

    Cellular booster

This is how started solving my issue, by using one of these antennas for Verizon jetpack. Where I was located, the same 1 bar and no improvement on actual speed. I know that jetpack has two antenna ports, but ones I saw no performance improvement, I didn't even wanted to bother with purchase a...

    Cellular booster

I happened to be in a unique situation. I'm using verizon for many years and chose it due to best overall coverage. Recently, we moved to an area where verizon has poor signal (1-2 bars, but mostly 1). I also have verizon jetpack, which is now struggling with signal as well. After doing some...

    Fuel Pressure Testers/Gauges Cummins 6CTA

I only know of one filter on the engine, which is usually is referred as secondary (spin on) filter. Do you have a picture or any more details about a small filter you're referring to?

    Fuel Pressure Testers/Gauges Cummins 6CTA

Thanks George. I'll talk to these guys and see what they recommend. Thanks for the tip. No, I do not have vacuum gauges. This would be another thing to look into. I didn't see that, would you happen to have a link for that article?

    Fuel Pressure Testers/Gauges Cummins 6CTA

I'll be following your advice on this. The numbers you suggested are pretty much spot on. I found an older thread on SBMAR site, where Tony said: "...Pay special attention to the part on throttle linkage and fuel solenoid travel.. Your engine needs to see not less than 2920 RPM in neutral at...
