Obviously I don’t need another boat, especially one that’s sitting on the wrong coast. But damn, this thing is pretty!

Kind of odd with the twin Lehmans, but I suppose you could just run one and use the other as a spare with a feathering prop, then alternate annually? The active stabilizers are an interesting touch. Can I fit in that engine room?

Sexy stern, clean foredeck with room for nice dinghies. Great pilothouse. Big airy salon and galley. Who wants to go in partnership with me? [emoji51]

I LOVE those boats! I always wanted one, and would rather have this over the Nordhavn 56 motorsailer. From what I understand, the Cheoy Lee 53 is a very good sailing vessel, too.

So while I won't talk you down, how about sideways? You could buy the boat... and give it to me!!!!!

A really nice motor sailer / trawler, a good Pilothouse and a salon with a good view out of the seaside, I can not tolerate an ordinary sail boat that can not be seen out of the salon. In this boat really a lot of good so the twins can withstand and the sails can be reached comfortably because of the twin masts.

Wow! That's enough to trigger dangerous thoughts. Part of what motivated my shift from sail to power was the troglodyte environs of the blow boats. This looks like the best of both worlds.

She is a beautiful boat. I wanted to go see it the last time it was listed in December. It was also listed last summer, and I felt like I missed out when the listing closed. Must be for sale again?

Oooohhh, Dude, that boat is a love at first sight thing all right. You'd have to live aboard to justify her, but she could go anywhere in the world. In sh*ty weather you could just have a couple of steadying storm gybs up, and you'd find 2 Lehmans great for powering away in relative comfort - or you could be really lazy and just use the stabilisers. Soon as sun comes out - full sail up - engines off - bliss.

Nothing wrong with being in love. It usually costs, but on reflection is always worth it!
I would have been very tempted if that was available 6 years ago.

Now, coincidentally one of my dock neighbours is in the same category. The marina is pretty full so after coming off the hard I am parked amongst the superyachts for a bit.

The Abel Tasman III is 75', with twin Cat 3208's. It looks gorgeous, but cant find out much about it. Just that it does charters in the Whitsunday region in season. My pic doesn't do it justice. It looks better from the bow quarter than the stern quarter. The pic in the link is better.

Like most sailboats this boat has sufficient construction scantlings to ocean voyage

, left coast to right coast transit is mostly downwind on the left coast , and the canal is an interesting adventure.

I really like the exterior and the helm area. The rest seems sailboat cramped. It's very nicely finished, but visualize it with 2 staterooms instead of 3.

Geez....$389K for a 32 year old Taiwanese Tub with sails? What's wrong with this picture? Teak decks? Leaky windows? Rubic cube electrical wiring?

It will probably make it from west coast to Hawaii and maybe Tahiti.

Donsan, your response is likely insulting and demeaning to many of the members of this forum. No doubt insulting to the owners of this fabulous vessel as well. Whether of not the prices is reasonable that is for potential buyers to work out.
To characterize boats built in Taiwan as “tubs” insults me because my boat certainly is NOT a tub any more than a KK, Nordhaven or GB is. No doubt all those boats have their share of problems as well, more or less based on owner care. I doubt you know if the decks or windows on this particular boat leak and to simply lump it with other boats who may or may not have those issues is unfair?

Ha! There’s the reality check I was looking for!

But, if it was really “restored” and in good shape, then how would you feel? Allegedly the previous owner did a $350k refit on her, and this current owner seems meticulous (has won maintenance awards at his yacht club allegedly). Could all be BS of course.

I still like it, but it seemed like a lot better idea last night when I was drinking wine. [emoji51]

Don’t feel bad, it happens with us about once a week . I get on the rum and my wife on the wine and we’re ready to sellout and sail away.

I too was a recent owner of a Taiwanese boat and saw several derogatory comments about them on TF without ever being offended. Our boat also was 30+ years old and had black iron fuel tanks to boot. I still like many of the Taiwanese boats including this Cheoy Lee and the comments were made mainly in jest. He did ask to be talked out of it, right?

Donsan is clearly talking about a different boat. This one is so far from being as he described that the mods should relocate his post.

When you take possession of this fine craft, bring it north and spend some time in my home waters so I can get aboard, or at least get photos of you sailing by. You will remain in love for many years.

I’m thinking I can start a YouTube vblog (or whatever it’s called) about motorsailing to pay for this. Kind of like what Sailing La Vagabonde is doing, but with a 50ish couple instead of young, good looking Aussies. Maybe call it Mature Motorsailing. The demand will be HUGE for this segment I’m sure!

I’m no historian, but Choey Lee started in Shanghai in the 1800’s, moving facilities later to Hon Kong. So technically cannot be referred to as Taiwanese tubs.

Something happens to me when the woodwork is so sumptuous and curvy. That boat is a sculpture. True what Ted said, I’d rather see it as a two stateroom, but it seems as if Cheoy Lee has my number.

OK CD, I looked at the boat porn site (Yachtworld) and this boat is just too fine for you. It is not docked in a conservative marina. If you had it moved to Texas, it would have to be cleaned to get all the evasive liberal stuff removed. Texas would never allow it entery until it was properly inspected by a conservative surveyor!

You like working on boats and this one is just too perfect for you. Adding sails to a motor yacht is just blasphemy I say!! Once a "stink pot" always a stink pot!!!

Yes I noticed that this morning while drooling over the pics and drinking my coffee . I’m thinking it must be for the stabilizers . It sure is one sweet boat .
We only have one computer at home , actually it’s just an iPad. I make sure I leave my current YW list of dream boats everyday in the history for my wife to check out while I’m at work.

I could really put my snazzy new yachting clothes Healhustler made for me to good use on this boat!

@tbtapper: You’ve never done repair work on a CheoyLee or dug out dryrotted windows on one have you? Or cut out and relaminated spars that we’re delaminating from poor construction. They have a certain reputation that is well deserved. They are a Wednesday boat. Meaning if you get one built in the middle of the week (figuratively) it’s OK. But Monday and Friday boats suk. Which version is this one? Without an exhaustive look, survey and an experienced cheoylee lookover they aren’t worth it.
The P.O. did at least what the boat is actually worth in repairs. That’s a non starter for a cautious person. The boats worth half asking price. He will NEVER get what he has in it from a rationale buyer. Unrationale buyer, Sign on the dotted line.
