New Alternator for the 855 came yesterday and have it in place

Old alt has nice clear markings as seen in pic
Instructions mention terminals marked POS, R and I (ground)
Reality has no markings

Pos is easy enough
R was never used and i'd be guessing its the on under + with a rubber boot on it.
Ground is ????

Can find nought online
Am guessing one of the case bolts well do, after all it seems it was a case bolt on the old model
Or is it the threaded hole marked in blue?
No bolt supplied and none on board that I have found that fit

Advice please from those that know (-;

Its a weekend here so no one at place of purchase to ask.

Jaylec/world power solutions 27si 65-0027-1

Asked for a Delco but this turned up.
Hard to get genuine big Delco here as they are silly money
This came from Cooldrive, a mate with a trucking business has an account so got it at the right price and delivered.

Show the entire back of the new alternator. Maybe that will help.

If there's no dedicated ground terminal, put the ground wire on a mounting bolt. Many alternators ground through the case.

Will this help?

Thanks, just had a phone conversation with a mate who works in remote areas and he said the same.
When the right parts are weeks away sometimes you have to make stuff work.

I don't know why the supplier decided a 27si was the one
Looking at pics online and my alt, a 22si was the one we should have got, but what would I know.
Sad bit is they did actually have the pics clearly showing what we had in front of them.

Will this help?

Thanks
Looks like the blue threaded hole I have in the pic marries up with the earth on that PDF.
Now......to find a bolt onboard that matches.

If you got a bigger frame alternator, that's not a bad thing. Either more output or more durable and cooler running at a given output.

I wanted the whole back end so I could compare alternator to the actual 27si.

I tried googling the mfgr, you showed but got nothing so the request.

THe bolt hole in question appears to be the intended ground point.

Yes, I know alternators are often grounded by grounding anywhere on the case including the actual mounting or adjustment bolts. However, not all alternators are that way.

I almost suggested using your ohmmeter to test it but I figured you didn't want any chance of blowing it. Maybe not likely but caution is better.

All sorted
Have buckets of s/s bolts on board and after wading through every one eventually found dozens the right size but 6 inches long so chopped off the thread and installed it as a stud.

Fires up engine and the amps are smashing in and no smoke has escaped.
I'm calling that a win.

if your new alternator if a higher amp unit you may want to check that the postive wire can handle the extra load.

Actually both + & - .

Good thinking aboutime
