Very nice. And I like your engine on the transom. Easier to work on, better maneuverability, less fumes and more room in the boat aft .. lots.

Thats a cool project, makes me rethink the times when people offered me these types of boats for free or cheap.

I do the same thing with motorcycles, it seems after a couple years I have enough mix and match pieces and parts to put one together. Its very therapeutics for me.

Charlie, there are so many deals on old sailboats on trailers.
They are fine, very efficient hulls.
I paid less than half of what the trailer alone would cost new with the boat on it and have the mast, boom and sail to sell. Bonus was the trailer had new tires and even a new spare.

Just came across a picture with the ole Sailmaster 9.9 I’ll be using.
Extra long shaft (25”) electric start, alternator and high thrust prop
Oldie but a goodie from Johnson

Durant you probably won't be using over 5 hp but you can cruise underloaded most of the time w a gas engine if the carb is adjusted for best mixture at your cruise speed. Not like diesels.

A prefer the older 2 strokes as they have both high speed and low speed mixture adjustable needle metering. But often that means at two throttle settings you'll be spot on but not so much everywhere else. I usta cross Georgia Strait w my 17' OB cruiser running an old dull red Johnson 35. I got the boat trim-loaded right, adjusted the low speed jet needle and ran 10 knots burning little fuel w little noise and vibration. Nice ride.

But w the fixed jet carbs you're stuck w what comes w it.

I think, after you use it a bit, you will build the bow up a bit.

Time will tell. Maybe another 6 inches.

Finally got back putting away at the mini trawler.
Getting the remote shift/throttle was relatively easily done.
Remote steering presented a bigger challenge.
Review of available parts and some stainless steel I had in the shop along with a welder friend and the inside helm is now almost functional.
Awaiting the wheel which should be here tomorrow.
A few last minute things and hopefully a test run on the weekend.

On its lines.
More stable than I expected, even in the beam to wake of passing boats.
Guess the lead and concrete worked.
No speed ship but didn’t expect it to be.
5 knots feels “comfortable”...

More stable than expected..... it is after all only a 19ft, 1200lb sailboat hull
The old 9.9 sailmaster outboard needs to be re propped. Rev’s too hi, propped for a much heavyer sailboat.
Was nice to sit and putt along!

Very nice job, I love this kind of stuff, built my current boat from a surplus USCG hull and I'm thing of changing it to provide more enclosed space so I really appreciate your great photos.

Congrats, the boat looks great. You may want to keep that outboard propped a little on the low (edited) side, they are great outboards but if they idle for too long they can foul plugs pretty bad, cruising at a slightly higher rpm than necessary may help avoid plug fouling and also improve your battery charging output.
