2003 30' Pilot II 6LPA
So my 2003 30' Pilot II's 'Side Power' bow thruster needs attention. It has worked flawlessly for the 4 1/2 years owning the Mainship but it started slipping today. My son in law dove in and determined the prop was loose. I had the prop off a few years ago and recall it had a pin thru the shaft that made up to a notch in the prop when the retaining nut is socked down. I will take the rig to the beach or do a short haul to check it out but would like to have a new prop in hand first. I will try to get in touch with Side Power in the morning but am wondering if any other 30 owners with the Side Power know what diameter the prop is. I am guessing 6 to 7". Any other thoughts are appreciated, thanks.

Might only need a new pin...
Get the model number off the thruster and find the prop for it.

Look at the tag on the unit, then with the model number you can find the right prop on the net. Zinc is held on with an allen screw. Take that off and prop comes off with a hex nut, think around 17mm. And yes, there is a pin there to drive the prop.

Sidepower made an upgraded prop for the 7" and I think the 9". Supposed to be more efficient and quieter. I bought it but haven't yet installed the upgrade. See Defender catalogue.

Turns out it was the shear pin at the motor coupling. The $3 pin has been ordered but what a huge pain in the ass to work on it.

Mine failed. It was the plastic prop..the pin wore a groove in the prop and it would no longer thrust. Retaining but was tight. Just wore out.
