Hello, I am very interested in the boat in this link, a 1993 IG 32', but it has been "stretched"at some point, and I am wondering if anyone on TF is familiar with the boat, or has seen a similar modification? The cockpit is much bigger than on a typical boat of this size, which is a main drawing point, because my wife's main objection to trawlers in general has been the lack of comfortable outside seating. I haven't been able to go see it before because of the pandemic, but looks like I could do so pretty soon.

Not familiar with that boat but many boats have been stretched. Some results were better than others. I would want to know who did it and if a marine architect was involved. I would also verify the air draft. That top doesn't look like it folds. The problem with modifications like that is they limit the market for the boat. If moma wants a back porch look at the Europa style boats.
 
I remember this boat when it was being sold a few years ago. There is no way that there are 2 Island Gypsy's out there which were stretched and and a bulbous bow added.

The link in the 2013 post is going back to the current Ad. I have no idea if it ever sold. the original link showed pictures of the bulbous bow at the time.
 
Help with Boat Info

Thanks so much for the replies, and you are right that the FB has a hardtop, not a bimini, so the height is 23ft, too much for the loop.
Also spoke to the owner, who is not the guy who did the stretch; although the original hull is solid glass, the stretched section is cored, and the "bulbous bow" is actually part of a surfboard that was fared into the hull. This owner doesn't seem to have cruised much, and didn't talk at all about how it handles with those mods.The price is very attractive, and IG's just look good - to me, at least - but I think this boat may be more of an experiment than I want to fool with at the age of 70!

I really appreciate your thoughts!
 
You need to think long and hard about resale when you give up on it, for whatever reason.

I saw a mast, so the 23 ft would be to the top of the mast not the hard top.
Most flybridge enclosures are 16 to 17 feet clearance. If it were 23 feet to the hard top it would look waaaay out of proportion.
Masts can be lowered easily.
So you could do the loop in this boat in my opinion.
