We purchased “Miss’n Texas” in 1996 n the Chesapeake Bay area and cruised there on weekends and vacations until we moved aboard full time in 1999. For the next 3 years we were on the move…as far northeast as Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard and as far south as the Jumento Islands in the southern Bahamas and as far southwest as Brownsville, Texas. After purchasing our home in Port Aransas, Tx in Island Moorings (where she berths in the canal behind our house) we have made more extended cruises back to the Bahamas with our dog Esther. Miss’n Texas has been in our family 23 years. She is dependable and comfortable whether you are long range cruising, setting in a marina, or on the hook. Engine room and inverter

I just purchased 87 42’ sundeck. I would love to see pics of your battery placements in engine room and where you placed your inverter. I plan to outfit mine similar to yours. I have the original 2 size 8d battery and I 4d battery for gen set. Would love to see a pic of your battery set up

I put the Main Eng battery just beside the exhaust box in the back of the engine room outboard (at the back of the fuel tanks), the generator and 4X 8 D(house) are under the seats(port) in the galley, the inverter and chargers are by the fresh water pressure tank foward and stbd of the engine room

I believe my 46 has more room in front of the engines than the 42 does. My configuration is a d8 in front of each engine. The starboard battery is lined up across the boat. The port battery is line up front to aft. Outside of the port engine battery is my 4 lt16s 6volt house batteries. Between LT16s and port boat wall is the generator battery a grp 27. My charger/inverter is mounted under the aft banquette seat in the galley eating area. I originally had inverter mounted on engine room wall directly over the generator. Inverter got too hot there and continually gave me problems. After moving it to present location the problems went away. Good luck If I can be of any help let me know.
