Chb-37?

Anyone with personal experience, etc. with a "CHB-37 Long Range Trawler Yacht"? Looked at one over the weekend - seems in sound condition but there is little to no information on them on the interwebs.

We had a 38' Fu Hwa which was a sister company to Chung Hwa. Not sure what makes that model a long range trawler but typically they came with 400 gals for fuel tanks and either a single or twin Lehman 120/135 or Perkins 6.354 diesel engines which would burn about 1.5-2.0 gals/hour at 7-7.5 knots so they could easily go 1,000 miles between fill ups.

Main problems with them are teak decks and rotten cores, rusted black iron fuel tanks and leaky windows and doors and electrical wiring which needs replacing.

Chung Hwa also built more than a few Marine Traders.

Yeah I figured its al out of that same early 80's crowd of boats, its just got an interesting expanded flybridge that I haven't seen on similar models from the era.

Was just curious about others of this model.

Those comments apply to just about every boat, Taiwanese built or domestic, built during the 80s.

A 37' single engine trawler would be a sweet spot for a couple or a small family. Enough room for a decent second cabin, nice main salon space and depending on how the fly bridge is layed out, plenty of room for a family of four up there.

But that list of potential problems can cost more than the boat is worth to fix right if several of them turn out to be true. Rotten core under the teak decks and rusted fuel tanks can easily eat up tens of thousands of dollars.
