We need to leave our boat in the Keys for a week in mid-February as we return to North Carolina. We are not too particular where, prefer someplace between Marathon and Key West. Does anyone have a dock available or can anyone recommend a safe marina for a week-long period from 2/13 to 2/20?

Many thanks,

Unless you find a freebie, your cheapest solution and a reasonably safe one is at a mooring in Boot Key Harbor, Marathon. Theoretically moorings are for live aboards- transients and full time and not as a place to store the boat, but lots and lots of people do it. Just don't tell the City Marina that is your intention.

Sometimes, particularly when the wind is out of the north for a while and the Bahamian crossing is backed up, the moorings fill up. But if you can wait a day or so they will call you when a space opens up.

Slips in the keys are always expensive.

Thanks David and others. We have decided to rent a slip at Faro Blanco Marina for a month and use that as a base of ops while we are in the keys. Hope to see all while we are in the area.
