Actually a good description. Where most people get into trouble with plumbing is attempting to make tight radius bends in hoses or other flexible plumbing lines. The purple plastic radius guards on the PEX are more to prevent this condition than to facilitate easy bending. Without them the possibility of kinking would present a problem.

PVC or CPVC should be shielded from possible bumping or impact and heavily supported as it does not react well to either.
