My wife and I have our baby, a 42 Deltaga long range trawler conversion from a BC Dungeness crabber (parts still in progress).

Curious... What speed is optimized with the bow's "nose"? I have a similarly-shaped hull but without the proboscis.

Love the yellow stripe and green hull with red bottom.

According to marine engineers:
"The bulb modifies the way the water flows around the hull, reducing drag and thus increasing speed, range, fuel efficiency, and stability. Large ships with bulbous bows generally have twelve to fifteen percent better fuel efficiency than similar vessels without them."

Since she was a fishing boat, and not best for hull design for economy, adding rolling chaulks, and the bulbous bow were part of the economy plan for long trips.

Lots of things still in progress, (are you ever really done?)

But:

John Deere 6808 - 3000 hours, turbo.
Twin Disc
Keel cooled - Fresh
Cruising speed 7.5 knots - 2 gallons an hour
Range? Just installing new tanks mid ship - TBD.
Displacement roughly 38-40,000 lbs loaded.
Fuel - 400
Fresh water 175
Gray water / black water systems.
No current Genset - working on Northern lights replacement this winter. (just set up new seacock, and other items in shipyard to prepare for addition)
Rolling chocks, and bulbous bow added.
All aluminum complete above decks - Fiberglass Deltaga Hull
New upper helm Station.

Wow, thanks for sharing those pics. She sure looks like one serious sea-going trawler. Which in the case of your vessel, is not the usual misnomer it is when applied to most of ours. Welcome to TF.
