I’m using a Garmin 3210 GPS with Airmar 79 Thru Hull Transducer. I haven’t been able to get any kind of depth for some time now. I tried another Garmin 3210 from a friend and still no depth reading. I was checking the oil in my transducer and noticed one side of the lock-in tab was broke and the transducer would not lock in tight to the hull mounted cup. Could this be my problem with no depth reading? I haven’t tried holding it in tight and getting someone to check for depth reading yet.

The P79 must be fully functional immersed in the cup to work properly- having the transducer not lock in the cup shouldn’t matter, as long as it’s fully submerged.

I have one too and it had a tiny leak on the base sealant to the hull. Over the summer it leaked out and no depth upon launch. Remove the top and refill with pink non toxic antifreeze then all is well. Yes I did reseal the TD. No issues in the last 4 years.
