My wife and I just purchased our first big boat, a 1983 Ocean Alexander 40 Europa. During the process we used TF as a resource to help guide us through our search and purchase and came to appreciate the community here, so I figured I'd sign up and participate, if you'll have me that is.

We live in Kingston and found a slip in Poulsbo as the Kingston marina has a long wait list for vessels our size. Anyhow, just wanted to say hello for now.

Welcome, that's a darn nice boat !

Looks like you live in a great boating area. Look forward to seeing you up here along coastal BC.

Welcome to TF from the other corner of WA. You certainly live in a nice boating area.

Welcome. We are just down the road from you. Which marina in Poulsbo? We are at Liberty Bay. We tried to get into Kingston, but at the time were told they had an eight year wait.

Welcome from Mukilteo. You should investigate joining a yacht club. It isn’t about standing around in white slacks an blue blazers holding a beverage and trying to have others be impressed. Far from it. It’s about helping and being helped in all phases and activities that have to do with boating.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, its this kind of camaraderie that inspired me to sign up. I am at the Port of Poulsbo Marina. When I was looking to secure a slip Liberty Bay only had a single, more expensive sublet available through the summer and I wanted something more permanent. Parking at the Port sucks but the rates are cheap, $6.80 per foot with power, water and wifi. I took a quick look at the Poulsbo Yacht Club website and plan to eventually inquire further.

Poulsbo is one of our favorite places and our YC (Tyee) is closely connected with theirs. In fact a large group will be in Poulsbo for the upcoming July 3rd fireworks.

Agree on joining a YC...we've made so many friends and learned a ton from ours.

Here is something motivational for you, watch the whole thing on a full screen:

Inside Passage Overview:

We'll be aboard, albeit in our slip for the Poulsbo July 3 fireworks. When my wife retires in 3 years we plan to cruise full time May-Sept. By then we should be comfortable handling the boat. The P.O. bought this boat last March, readied and motored it to Juneau and back then put it up for sale upon returning. They were from Texas and an Alaska trip was a bucket list experience for them.
