We are new owners of a 2006 Symbol 45. We live in Edmonds WA and boat is in Baltimore MD. In mid April, with the help of a professional captain, we are going to cruise to Port Everglades Fla, arriving by April 30th. There the boat will be loaded on a boat carrier for the trip through the Panama Canal & up the west coast to Vancouver, BC. This will be a huge change for us - going from A single screw Cutwater 30 cb to a much bigger and heavier twin screw boat. But we are very excited, though a little anxious.
Looking forward to our first ICW Cruise.
It’s going to be a lot harder to say goodbye to our Salish Spirit. The new boat was named Chesapeake Rouge and her new name will be Salish Diva. Guess whose wife is an opera buff? We are looking forward to meeting and hearing from the Symbol community, while we are determined to stay in touch with with the wonderful friends we’ve made in the Cutwater/Ranger Tug community.
By the way, if any one is interested in buying a 2017 better than new Cutwater 30 cb you can private message me or see the listing on Yacht World or at Seattle Yachts. Oh and yes, the price is $289K. Bob Gold

So now that you have your "new to you" Symbol how do you like it? We are currently evaluating a 2008 Symbol 45. It checks all the boxes for us on our wish list. Is the draft really 4'6"? How does it handle in rougher water? does it roll a lot or do you have stabalizers? Love to hear all about it. They sure seem to be a comfortable layout!

Trying to attach a few photos of our new (to us) Symbol 45,
Salish Diva. Not quite sure how to do this, but here goesView attachment 86873
We like our Symbol very much. Very high quality construction and finish. No stabilizers. Deep keel.

Engine room is a bit cramped but I’m getting use to it. Hard to see the stern from the helms. Will install rear view cameras. Boat has a port list, probably caused by excess weight added post launch. Am considering adding some ballast to starboard. Still happy.

Thanks BobnDoc! What is the actual spec of your boat's draft? Is it under 5'? Also does it have a protected prop? We are very excited to go see the Symbol that is for sale. Glad you like it... what a journey its been on already.

Oh yah... I forgot another question. We are noticing in the pictures of the boat that the side windows in the salon do not open. Is this correct and if so how is the ventilation? I realize you are boating the Pacific NW so it may not be an issue but we plan to spend the winters on our boat in Florida and wonder if it will be too hot at dock. What windows open and which are fixed? Thanks again!
