Will the AC system operate while the engine is running, or is it necessary to also run the generator?

I figured that was the case. I wonder if there is a modification one could make that would facilitate that? I'm assuming that the engine alternator charges all the batteries. (?)

Here is an alternative to running the generator for A/C while underway...a belt driven AC generator. I can’t imagine it to be cost effective vs just running your generator.

Just run the generator, it won’t hurt it to run underway and they don’t use much fuel. Any other option will cost you $$$ and more things to maintain. We have run ours on occasion underway when it’s been really hot or cold.
