New to the boards. Hello all. I have a 1976 38' Californian LRC. I need information on the model transmission*they installed in the Boat. I know that it is Borg Warner but that is all.* It has twin 185 diesel perkins.*Also where I could obtain information on the transmission. I.E. Manel or whatever.

I have looked at the trans. for Serial #, and Model # and cannot locate.

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thank You.

For the Quick response. I am sure that someone will have the answer.

Love our Californians.

Have a great day.

I have 1976* 6.354M's, but they are NA's.* I would think they would be the same as yours, 70 series Borg Warner Velvet Drive transmissions.* Probably 70, 71, or 72*model number.* Based on your horsepower, I would expect yours to be 72C velvet drives.* A link to the manual is below:

Good luck

it should be on a tag around the top of the tranny,if you have 2 engines one will be* 2to1 tranny and the other will be a 1.9to one tranny if it is the old tybe borg warners, they do that so both props turn outboard, that is if both engines turn the same way which they probleley do
