Condition: This boat was previously moored in a covered slip in NC for ten years, Then twenty years in a slip NJ. It was stored on the hard for 20 winters, under a custom fitted cover. The re-striped hull sides show close to new and the topsides polish up nicely. The Miss Chris looks more like a teenager than a thirty year old boat.
Use: I am a hands on owner that lives a five-minute drive from the slip. We are on the boat most every day in season. Our cruising has been to the Long Island Sound, Block Island, The Hudson river and the Chesapeake Bay. Being ten minutes away from Manasquan Inlet, most of our use has been day trips in the ocean between New York Harbor and Atlantic City, NJ.

This boat was repowered in 1998 with two new Cummins 6 BTA 5.9 M3 engines, replacing the original 210 HP engines and with two new ZF Model HSW 800 A2 transmissions. The Miss Chris can now cruise at 17.5 knots (20 mph) when you wanna trot. The displacement speed is 8 knots at 1450 rpm. As per the Cummins performance specs, the fuel consumption rates for both the 210 & 370 hp engines are virtually the same, up to 1400 RPM.
210 HP Engine: 1.3 GPH @ 800 RPM, 1.7 GPH @ 1000 RPM, 2.7 GPH @ 1400
370 HP Engine: 0.9 GPH @ 800 RPM, 1.4 GPH @ 1000 RPM, 2.7 GPH @ 1400 (data order is correct)
I contacted another owner of a Jefferson 42, same year and model with the 210 engines. He said that at 1500 RPM he averages a tad over seven knots. Differences in the trans gearing and the higher pitched props probably explain the Miss Chris’s higher speed at 1450 RPM.

Grand Banks shoppers. GBs are great boats no doubt, some say the best. If your money is burning a hole in your pocket, by all means go buy one. Or you could humble yourself and purchase this very nice Jefferson SUNDECK for half the price of a 1987 42 GB and cruise the loop, staying at marinas every night, buying all the fuel and still have money left over with the difference. Just a thought.
The selling price of recently sold Jefferson 42 Sundecks has averaged 85,000.
Asking 87,000 Reasonable offers encouraged
Buyers broker commissions considered.
