TF Burgee

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Murray, your good submission got lost in the madness. I will post a Poll to include the known suspect burgees including yours later this evening.

It wasn't mine.

CaptTom came up with the shape & initial colour scheme in post #170, then Wayfarer smacked it out of the park with posts #211 and #214. Art provided enthusiastic encouragement.

Trawlerites are worse to organize than the proverbial herd of cats. It takes a good dose of independence to sink as much money as it takes to buy a fancy car or house into a boat, load it up with beloved family members and friends, then risk it all in the name of fun.

Good luck reaching consensus on anything!

Greetings,
Mr. MM. While I see what you're saying, it is indeed not the case. Julius Marx, aka Groucho, is simply contemplating the plethora of combinations and permutations that constantly plague TF members...anchors.

So why don't you guys jump in and take the lead on a survey???
You pick the leading 2,3 or what ever you think is right and make a contribution...
Or are you just the type to sit on the sidelines and chirp about what others aren't doing... or doing to your satisfaction???
Lets see some leadership... Help move this forward

Ok Don, survey started

Given the compromised performance data on this type of anchor for recreational trawler use, shouldn’t we be having a discussion on what type of anchor we want representing our organization?:hide:

Why not a burgee with 10 different anchors on it?

I know, I know...which 10?

Greetings,
Mr, hh. I, for one, think a "compromised" anchor is exactly the best for TF given how most threads DRAG ON to destruction. But that's just me...

I think the gold field burgees should be for anyone that sticks around for the completion of this thread.

Well... we could close the thread down with a final post directing everyone to go back to the top of the forum and complete the poll or survey. This would be a Loop and those doing it would be considered Loopers and since there is already a burgee for that the whole thing was a waste.

Yes but it will require another post and we can't have that. Damn. This is another post. I'm screwed. Oh well.

I don't quite understand what you are saying to do. When you say "light" do you mean flip the colors? Make the field gold and the border and logo red? Like this example or something else?

Thanks! Yes that was what I was after. I think the lighter background is more eye catching.

I was out of town for several days.

This morn, after quickly traveling through pages and pages of 20 posts each... it is my summation... You have all [well most anyway] become "Burgee-Design Drunk". There must be a 12 step program to help you sober up!

The letters "TF" are just not that hard to place on a burgee. So what if the tiny little flag costs a bit more because it needs to be double sided for understandable and lasting stich capability. Is there anyone on this thread that really needs to crunch #'s in their ledger... before spending $75 as compared to $125??? I think NOT!

I'm in a Burgee Rehab facility. Visiting on Thursday and Sundays. Don't disagree with your comments. I believe the thing took on a life of its own. Since there is no official steering committee then.... If it were my project, which it's not, I would begin again. Pick a logo first. Put on a burgee second. Decide up front if it will be double or single sided or if that even matters. But it's not my project. I'm just an enabler.

Crusty

Talk about herding cats, you really got yourself into a pickle trying to please everyone. My suggestion is for you to pick a design and then take orders add shipping and get er done.

What? And defile the face of democracy!
We have a pole and encourage all to vote! If for some reason you dont see a design you like, by all means submit your idea. Lots of you have put a lot, maybe too much, time and energy in the process. I’m pretty sure that as we proceed with the pole, that we as, dare I say, “Adults” will pick a winner.
Thanks all.
And remember, if you dont vote, you lost your right to complain. At least that’s what I have heard for the last 60+ years.

Greetings,
I have a couple of ideas (other than previously submitted...ahem...renderings) but do not have access to some sort of drawing/design program in order to submit them. Again, if anybody could direct me to a free site that will enable me to copy and paste a final draft, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I've been watching a lot of Monty Python lately, so if you could please read the following in the voice of John Cleese, that would be smashing.

In response to my esteemed colleagues from other parts of the universe, I would like to posit that I believe this thread IS a good idea, and has been a positive experience, at least for me.

I've enjoyed the opportunity to be creative, and to see the creative input from others. I've enjoyed the fact that we've been able to take good ideas, and through constructive criticism, teamwork, and the overall spirit of just being nice to each other, dammit, make them better.

Furthermore, I believe that the intention of this thread was to encourage the citizenry of this virtual neighborhood to work together, and to unify in the spirit of community to create something special. I believe that this is sorely lacking in the world today, and any effort to encourage peaceful, respectful cooperation, no matter how small, is worth pursuing.

Fin.

I've just been using Microsoft Paint 3D, which comes standard on any windows 10 machine (i think). Also the good old fashioned MSPaint served me well in the past for things like this.

Where would be a proper place for me to fly a TF burgee if I’m flying the American Flag here? I like #10 .

Now try to imagine an old fart, with a large cocktail and a Cigar, trying to talk like John Cleese. I tried, it wasent pretty or even close.
So I read it to the dog and even she thought it was Insightfull!

Sorry, I don’t see a survey to pick from on my iPad. Went all the way back to the beginning of the thread. Maybe format doesn’t support the survey in iPad mode?

I couldn’t see the poll on my iPad but could on my computer. However, I use the TF app on my iPad. My guess is that a browser in the iPad will show the poll.

Larry to the rescue!

At this point I don’t remember if I want a burgee.
