I don't know that I could take that trip down the mountain side again. Once was definitely enough. She's magnificent though... and steel. There's a lot to like about a steel boat.

Enjoy.

It was a lot of fun watching her come together though.

Larry your boat is one of my favorites if not my favorite here on the Forum. Your close attention to every detail is obvious . Good looking boat . Boomerang was built from the heart in the beginning and is cared for from the heart now and it shows . It reminds me of this quote ,

I truly appreciate your comments and those of others on this forum. I've been asked how much of my time and money I am going to spend on Boomarang and my response is always "as much as it takes to make me proud to own her."

My taste in boats is generally traditional, or my definition of classic. For me, a 'proper' boat must have a graceful sheer line, good proportions and be in harmony with it's elements. Colors are important and when done right, accentuate and compliment the lines. When I was young, I studied naval architecture and yacht design and was influenced by the likes of the Nat and Halsey Hereshoff, Philip Rhodes, Olin and Rod Stephens, John Alden, Francis Kinney etc., etc. I think I must still have one foot stuck back in those years.

I envy you guys who live in the PNW. Beautiful scenery. South Washington state is as far as we have made it and Vancouver is on our bucket list. But pictures like yours makes me think about loading up the moving van and heading out there for good.

I know exactly where you are coming from as I have a daughter & her family in the Seattle area and have considered doing the same thing. After a few visits in the winter, however, I've purged those thoughts for good as the constant wet weather is depressing. (Google the statistics on depression in the PNW.)

My micro trawler taken on the first day of our Erie Canal trip last summer. She's small, but she only burns .5 g/h at 6 kts and can easily do 70 mph on the interstate.

The rain's not for everyone, but I love it...see flooding Canoona Falls avatar which was taken during the winter after three days of being stormbound on a sea kayak trip.

Some places have moss on the branches of the trees, some have ferns growing in the moss on the branches of the trees; we have flowers growing with the ferns in the moss on the branches of the trees.

That, and salmon, and herring, and oolichan, and Spirit Bears, and Black Bears, and Grizzlies, and Humpback Whales, and Orca, and about the lowest Human population density on the coast of BC, etc...

A little follow up to these pics...
As of last year...ERMA put Mariah on the bottom of the lagoon, right where you see here here, and that's where she still is and will die.

Was really tough dealing with the fact of this but I'm over it now and life goes on.
Of course if I'd hit the lottery I'd buy an A-frame work barge, go raise her and take he to Trinidad or Taiwan. Oh well...

Polycarbonate panels in an aluminum frame. Sturdy and much cooler than a canvas top.

Do you have your pictures on an online photo hosting site? If so, you copy the link from the photo on that site, come back here, click on the yellow icon that looks like a little mountain, and paste the link in the box that opens.

Rochepoint off Saltspring Island BC, one going to and one coming from Maple Bay BC

My wife and I got Kingfisher last fall, our first boat together. She's a former commercial fishing boat built in Sechelt, British Columbia in 1976. She's 37 feet, 10.5 foot beam, and draws 4.5 feet. A single Ford Lehman 120 diesel putts us along for a 6.5 knot cruising speed. Cold molded hull, wooden house.

add photo.

First go into the "User CP" & select "Pictures & Albums"

Then upload one of the pictures you want to post to your album - or one of your albums.

Then save that.

Then go back into the pictures & Albums & copy that up loaded picture

Then past it into your posting.

Then your all set.
