Bringing the Sea Star home...Take 2.

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
How did you get there? What are your plans?

We left Houma about 2 weeks ago, now at Rosemary beach with family. This weekend we return by car to Palafox marina and in the boat head east, once we get to Apalachicola we'll head back towards home, slowly with lots of stops.

Nice looking weather. We got 3” of snow last night.

We are waiting to go through the Rigolets bridge.
Mobile Bay started out somewhat ok but got pretty rough the further we went.
That wasn’t fun but at least rain stopped and eventually the sun came out.
It’s calmed down some in the last hour or so.
Found a new leak in the boat! Woohoo.

We are waiting to go through the Rigolets bridge.

Almost home!!!!! How was Mississippi Sound? That had to be rather nasty too. Wind has laid down some, Lake P shouldn't be bad with you being somewhat on the lee side. Congrats on you bringing her home in somewhat dicey conditions! BTW, crawfish prices have dropped by 25% this week!

The Sound was YUCK!!
Finally they opened the bridge.

And crawfish prices dropping is the best news ever! I’m hitting my place tomorrow!

Star, the leak is on top or the bottom?

Top. It appears one of the flybridge drains is plugged up and water is coming inside.
At least that’s where we THINK it’s coming from.
It’s a pretty significant leak.

We went through the railroad bridge, under the twin span, and now waiting to go through hwy 11 bridge.
Our bridge in the tchefuncte doesn’t open for maritime traffic between 4:30pm-6:30pm

I don’t know how big the swells were but I’d guess a good 5ft. I was sitting inside where it was dry and warm and I was watching out the back window.waves were crashing into the cockpit. When we’d roll a bit to one side, I could just see a wall of water out of the cockpit. The boat handled it all great.

We made it home safe and sound. kartracer and his wife were on their boat on the river and took pictures as we passed. They then came to our marina with a bottle of champagne. That was so sweet of them. Another marina neighbor had dinner waiting for us. It is so good to be home...but...we’re going to stay another night on the boat tonight. Lol

Congrats on getting home. Glad it worked out well.

Congrats on a successful journey! Many many more!

Good job! So where are you going this weekend?

That might be a fun boat to loop in if you have time to wait out weather for some of the bigger open water jumps.

Congrats and welcome home. I was following you all the way giving you both moral support although you didn't know it.

Glad all worked out ok.

Jim

Congrats On the journey!!

Or maybe the squirrel will invite some friends over "Hey, just found this great house, there`s a cat to play with, everything...."

Well the cat could be calling his friends....

Welcome home and congrats!! I missed this thread as I was on the old one.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your journey with us. It was fun to follow.

"That might be a fun boat to loop in if you have time to wait out weather for some of the bigger open water jumps."

There are multiple height limits on the loop.

Update. Home for a few months now. Got married.
Got name on the boat.
Anchored out a few nights on the river.
Took a few parties out for day trips on the river.
And generally loving the Sea Star.
Added a dinghy to the mix, nice 2012 nautical international 11ft Center console basically brand new. We literally put the first water hours on her.
