A centrifuge can only remove contaminants from oil, but will do nothing for chemical changes that oil experiences under the heat of normal operation.
Oil does break down over time, and additives are lost.
One of the biggest factors contributing to rapid blackening of oil is poor sump draining, which a centrifuge does not address.
For the 12 quarts and a filter that my rig takes, I’m very happy to know that the oil is fresh and up to specs with my 200 hr oil changes.
