Amazing boat.
Long and narrow it seems. Same beam as Willy but 7 feet longer! Lots of bow flare and she looks fairly light. Should be very efficient. Most here will probably envy your fuel burn numbers.

Yup, old-school narrow beam. The bow flare is nice going into a sea...she's a pretty dry boat. Of course, with that flat run aft she gets pushed around a bit in a following sea, keeping the helmsman busy when they get steep, but her deep keel helps tracking a lot and the flared bow keeps the green water off the foredeck (so far!).

I'm sure that Willy has a different motion in a beam sea with her round bilges and keel. Our hard chines make Kingfisher kind of snappy on the roll. One of my first projects after bringing her home...5 to 6 foot breaking beam seas from Sucia all the way to Blaine...was to sort out latches to keep the drawers shut!

Nice boat indeed.
Many boats of the day had a hard chine aft and very soft fwd. Is that the case w Kingfisher? Can't tell w the black bottom paint. Not good for hull pics.
Looks like no catwalk at all.
The snap roll on narrow beam boats is fly stuff compared to wider boats. More lift hang'in out there.
Re the drawers my wife sits on the settee and pushes them bak in and we even have drawers that are designed to stay put. ???

Little thread drift here, Simi, was the nozzle and prop OEM on your boat, or is that a mod?
Very interesting running gear, I’d love to see some comparison to an unshrouded prop, as I’ve kicked that idea around some too.

Thanks, mate! Yeah, the pictures don't show the chines well what with that black paint and the strake that is applied down both chines. It's a much softer turn of the bilge forward. After talking about chines I was thinking of my late father-in-law's boat. He had a Higgins boat...a torpedo re-arming craft built to carry torpedoes off the beach and sling them up under the wings of seaplanes. It was sold as salvage by the US Navy in Okinawa after a typhoon and my FIL made a beautiful yacht out of it. Like the more famous Higgins landing craft boats, it was designed for beaching; she had hard chines with little deadrise and the keel profile matched the angle of a natural beach. She was just a bit longer than Kingfisher but had a wider beam and YES, she really like to snap roll in a short beam sea! He copper sheathed her hull and put a metal shoe on the bottom of the keel. It was sure fun to watch the yachties freaking out when he'd run her at speed up onto the rocky beach in Inati Bay! He'd lower a boarding latter off the bow and step ashore, feet dry. With the fairly flat deadrise she would lie nicely on the beach if the tide went out, and with the keel profile she'd back right off without fuss. Tons of fun!

We have some drawers that have the notch underneath à la sailboats (lift and pull to open) and they stay put, but the largest ones aren't built that way and I was really surprised how they all slid open when the going got nautical. Donna would never put up with me using her for a piece of drawer hardware. Our Kingfisher is indeed a former work boat (one of the chief things I like about her) but I learned a long time ago that the First Mate likes things to be nice!

Yes, it is an Allweather. Homer Hughes design is one you either love or hate. Martini barge it's not. But a trusted, can do, tiny, slow boat to China, that will handle situations that most wont, it is!

36’ Willard Standard Cruiser. Perhaps not a barge, but from the hint of her name in the photo you might surmise that a martini is a possibility!
