Hi
I have this 60”trawler with a 66” teak bow pulpit and I would like to modify and modernize it, I am considering cutting it down to about 30” and laying a fiberglass pulpit over the top that is a few inches wider on both sides and running a anchor roller on the left and right side of it. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Planning on adding a strike plate to the bow? Anchor retrieval doesn't always happen on flat water. The closer the bow roller is to the bow, the greater the risk of a swinging anchor striking the hull.

Double anchors with color matched to hull strike plate on my trawler.

The old boat had no pulpit. I made a wood mock up and took it to my local fabricator. He built this in 1/4" 316L stainless. Two rollers and a strut for support. Also welded on a 4" pipe with a ss pin through it to work as a bitt.I had to polish it myself.

It was probably the strongest part of the boat and garnered many compliments. A frech start may get you exactly what you want. My fabricator was not a "marine" shop so the price was very reasonable.

Had no issues with the anchor hitting the hull but that may be due to my situation.

First shot shows strut, 2nd (Quissett Harbor, MA) pulpit with windlass, 3rd mooring bitt windlass removed for maintenance, 4th fabrication

You might want to maintain enough width so your rifleman can stand there and tag barrels to great whites.... ;)

Any time you can work in a good Jaws reference, especially to Quint and the Orca, is a good time in my book. Nice.
