Hi, have a new used 86 MMC 43' Trawler. Where do I find info on using the boom to lift and fly a sail. Any help would be appreciated. Been a sailor for 35 and went to the dark side because of new knees. thanks

Both my sails are boomless. Booms aren't necessarily required. Consider using furling sails on the hoist: easy/ready to deploy or recover.

very few responders to this same question through the years have ever seen any tech data on their masts and booms.

I use mine to launch and retrieve my inflatable dinghy, and sometimes for a steadying sail. I normally keep the boom at an up angle to keep it out of the way so I don't bonk my head on it.

My boom is in my workshop. A previous owner used it to launch the dinghy from a nice teak cradle on the aft cabin top. A later previous owner added Kato davits to carry the dinghy on the transom. The boom was only in my way so off it, it's rigging, and the dinghy cradle came, I did add a backstay to steady the mast.
