Hello fellow TFers,
While commuting I was browsing yachtworld listing and found Sea Ranger boats. Never heard of these but found the layout appealing. These are the kind of boat (layout speaking) I would like to get in some years when I will retire.
Any body has any feedback on these?

Well, I was hoping someone would have chimed in. I've seen a few, and don't know much about them.

I can’t remember what a SeaRanger is.
I suspect it’s that cutsie trailerable trawler look-alike that is narrow and fairly colorful. 27 to 31 feet I think.

I believe you are thinking of Ranger boats? Sea Rangers range from 44-53 feet. At least that's from current listings on YachtWorld.

Darren yes I remember the Sea Ranger boat now. They were advertised regularly in PMM about 02. Canadian boat?

I have the C&L Sea Ranger 39 Sundeck, great boat! What kind of information are you looking for? There aren't many of them around I purchased her in Virginia. She's well built and has a similar layout to other makes in her class.

That's why I was hoping someone knowledgeable about them would chime in. I don't much about them at all. In fact, I assumed they were Taiwan-built...

How long has it been since you winterized your boat, and you're already lusting over larger boats? ;) :D

C&L Marine, of Tashing(sp) Taiwan, built my boat. I wouldn't worry about the initial quality of anything from that yard.
They started building a line called "Sea Ranger" in the early 80s. I looked at a couple of different designs of the Sea Ranger, one, 51' that started life as a 45, then had a cockpit extension. I really liked that boat, but couldn't pull the trigger on it at the time.
The second one I looked at was done. It should have gone to the crusher, not to the marketplace. Everything that could be wrong with a boat due to owner neglect, was wrong with that one.
You need to evaluate a boat carefully that is 30 yrs old. Get a survey, poke around yourself till you are satisfied there are not going to be any serious surprises.

There is a C&L Sea Ranger 47 here on TF., somewhere in Ontario IIRC. Maybe he will contribute some wisdom.

Good luck on your search.

Guilty as well...

Are are Sea Rangers SD hulls or did they make any FD hulls? From what I read, they're a solid fiberglass hull which is really appealing for most.
