Greetings,
I'm watching with interest the route of hurricane Ophelia. Isn't it's path (west then to northeast) quite uncommon? Not that I've been following hurricane tracks all that long but I've never noticed any previous storms following this course. Comment please.

Definitely unusual. Looking at a chart that normally shows history of similar hurricanes and all it shows is Ophelia. I've only followed hurricanes for 5 years but don't recall others that did it. Doesn't mean there weren't others as I would have looked and said, "it's not going to hit us" and lost interest.

At least it's heading "their" way instead of "our" way for a change.

Not that I'm wishing it on anyone.

The good side of it if there is any is that this one should not get stronger as it will go over colder water.

Ireland has NEVER had a hurricane, the water is simply too cold to sustain one.

It will be a post tropical storm when it hits them. 70mph winds and torrential rain. So just a normal day in Ireland!
