Hi my name is mike I own a 1979 chb 34 I am ripping out my teak decks to fix leaks and soft spots I am running into very poor quality previous repairs it look like I'm going to have to replace the "sub deck " in some places I would love to get any input from someone who has done this or been through this project any input would be much appreciated

Welcome aboard from me, too. I think the search function is your friend, you are certainly not the first to tackle this job. The only positive comment I can make is that once the fibreglass dries and you have your first celebratory drink (I recommend champagne!) the boat will feel more solid, the smells of must and rot will be gone, you will never have to renew a seam or a bung in a teak deck and the boat will have at least doubled in value.
 
Ripping out the dead house ply makes a very hard job.

Leave it all in place and lay up a new deck,on top, cored with good foam , if you can afford it.
