Did you put in the exhaust manifold cooling system vent on your 8.2? I am wondering if that is necessary if you run the engine lightly as he plans to do.

Don't know about the vent.

At the time, I was doing good to know a) it was a diesel, b) it was in the engine room, c) manual oil change pumps DON'T suck, and d) other minor stuff like that. Didn't even know about the headbolt thing until a few years after we bought the boat... so I was just lucky that didn't bite us in the.... pocket book.

That said... when we did discover the issue that led us to learning about the headbolt recall... a call to J&T (original marinizer) was an easy fix... and they may have addresses the manifold vent at the time, too. (If that hadn't already been done.)
