• Trawler Forum Classified Posting Guidelines
    • We expect ads placed to be related to the topic of this forum.
    • Ads that are inactive for 180 days or longer may be moved to the Classified Archive and locked. Ads may be relisted if the item is still current. Alternatively, owners may contact a Moderator to reinstate an archived ad.
    • The Classified section is for advertising, members are asked to refrain from posting discussions to a Classified Ad. Please start a discussion thread or PM the owner for discussions.
    • Do not hijack another member's ad by posting unsolicited commentary. Example: if a member has posted an ad offering an anchor for sale, don't add a post to his thread stating that you have an anchor you'd like to get rid of also. Posts deemed as unsolicited commentary may be removed.
    • For your own security, do NOT include your e-mail or phone number in your ad. Instead request that interested parties contact you via PM (private message) to provide owners contact info.
    • Brokers, Dealers, or those with a commercial interest in a sale are prohibited from posting in Classifieds.
    • Only Trawler Forum Commercial Members may post ads in the Commercial section. You must be a designated Commercial Member to start threads in this section of the forum. (Contact a moderator if you have questions about this)
    • Don't post links to commercial sites where you are also offering the boat, such as eBay, Craigslist or Yachtworld, etc. unless it contains a more in-depth description, additional information or pictures.
    • Place only one ad per item (you may repost only when your ad has expired and been removed).
    For Sale ads MUST include:
    • Asking price
    • Location
    • A Basic Description
    • Clear statement whether you are the owner or non-owner (posting for friend, relative, or acquaintance)
    • Don't forget to select: FOR SALE, WANTED or FREE in the Title block.
    All ads should also include ALL the following:
    • Pertinent maintenance and condition information
    • Exterior picture or pictures
    • Interior picture or pictures (boats)
    For maximum impact & exposure, it is suggested the Ad Title include: Year, Manufacturer, Model, Length, Price, and Location or at the very top of the ad body. When your item has sold or the ad is no longer relevant: Please post a Reply to the ad that the item is SOLD or click "Report Post" on post 1 of the thread to ask a moderator to archive the ad. Ads may be moved or removed by our staff at any time for any reason. All ads must comply with site rules. Thanks for your cooperation.
  • Avoid Scams.

    Our classifieds are free and anyone registered here is welcome to post an ad.
    Be aware that there are unscrupulous folks out there. Avoid any interaction that seems odd to you or feels wrong. Inquiries from unknown buyers, buyers agents and other non-traditional approaches should be treated with extreme caution.

    Beware of unsolicited contacts offering to put you in touch with someone else who is buying or selling via e-mail or text.

    Do not post your e-mail address or phone number in a classifieds ad.

    Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:
    • Seller or Buyer approaches you via a direct email or PM and then steers you to an off-site communication method (text or email).
    • No posts or very few forum posts.
    • Recent forum membership
    • Insists on conducting negotiations via email or text rather than PM
    • Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
    • Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

Straycat;
You have an amazing vessel! I have looked at Prairies for several years and your vessel might be the best equipped and reworked vessel around.

Congratulations for all the work done well.

Reading through your descriptions are exactly what I would do to a Prairie 29. You have made her an incredible liveaboard and a cruiser.

I am immensely impressed

Hello, was not sure if my original message came thru.. Very interested in your boat.. If you could contact me at 770-265-1035 by text or call.. Tks Gregg

So Straycat;
Is she still for sale? I still lust after her and covet her truly.

StrayCat

Yes, she is still for sale. Rick &Donna 941-223-3665

Straycat;

A couple of questions.

1. Have you replaced the fuel tank? I notice it is a steel 100 gal

2. Any leaks from rain? Any mildew/mold?

3. Can you send pics of the dinghy, davits, motor?

4. Does the weight of the dinghy on the stern cause any issues? When yo back into a slip is there a blindspot?

5. You have done so very much to the vessel. What other projects have you talked about doing IF you kept the boat?

6. Does anything need to be done or is she cruise ready?

7. I assume she is in Stuart?

Thanks.

Prairie 29 1980 Hull 51

We spent time on Stray Cat earlier this week and checked her out. She is a

fine boat and will make someone a terrific cruising trawler.

The Sellers could not have been more gracious.

I urge you to see her in person if you are interested in a Prairie 29.

Ok. The fuel tank is aluminum, 111 gallons and new in 2010.
2. We have had one leak at a starboard station fitting. It was re-bedded, and we have had no leaks since. Any mildew that grows I'd aggressively killed and cleaned. We have found no hidden mildew in the nooks and crannies.
3. The dink and Davies are not part of the sale, by we can send pics to your private e-mail.
4. No, there is no issue with the dink on the stern. As we almost always navigate from the flybridge, there is no issue with visibility. From the lower helm, there is adequate visibility, as most of the bulk of the dink is below the transom.
5. I have a list of further projects, and would discuss with someone while on the boat.
6. She is cruise ready, but needs some paint in places. All mechanical and living spaces are up to snuff. We just finished a 2.5 year adventure, and if she does not sell, we will head to the west coast of Florida in the fall. She will need no prep other than a bottom clean by our diver and full tanks.
7. She lies in Stuart at Sunset Bay Marina.

just an FYI..my husband made and error re: Davits. The davits stay on the Stray Cat. They were custom made for her the previous owner. They are stainless 2+inches in diameter. It is the outboard and dingy that are not included, but available. Dingy was purchased in November of 2015, Highfield 9'6" double hull, aluminum and weighs 93 lbs..basically used only for the summer of 2016. The outboard is a Honda 5 horse, 2 stroke, purchased in 2015, chosen because I could start it myself (this is Donna). It has been a reliable easily started outboard.
Send us your email if you are interested if you want additional photos and I will forward them to you. There is a limit of 10 photos to post on the PT site. Donna

When you head south if you go down the Chesapeake Bay let me know would like to see the StrayCat. Also the chance to talk to you about her. We live in Mechanicsville, v
VA and can meet you from the Rapahanick down to Norfolk harbor. Bob

So Bob;
Are you the new owner of Straycat?

Are you bringing her up the ICW to VA?

Would love to see her and visit when you go through NC.

Tim

Stay Cat

Stray Cat has been sold and she headed to Miami. Not sure where or if they will be cruising at...I believe they wanted her as a live aboard. We updated her just for that reason and we hope they enjoy her as much as we did. We are sad and happy....Donna
