Early yesterday morning in Squalicum Marina a sailboat caught fire and burned to the waterline and sank.* A neighboriing boat had started to burn, too, but fire crews got that out pretty quickly.* Several other boats near the sailboat were damaged.
The sailboat was raised yesterday and will be examined by the fire department to see if they can determine the cause.
The boat was in a slip on the same dock as Carey's about eight boats away.* No damage to his boat.
I have not seen even any speculation at this point as to what caused the fire.* Last night was pretty cold for around here, so I suppose it could have been heater-related.
