COOL. I expect we have all used our "favorite". I have never conceived a way to test the products as a comparison. I have also used Marvel's Mystery Oil with some success. I see the optimum solution at the bottom of the page. WHO else knew of this concoction of Acetone and AFT? Any incite as to stability of the mixture? I would imagine it would be best to brew a small quantity for use.
Thanks for sharing this. I find this useful.:thumb:

I wonder why they use ATF?
Would seem a lot of oils/lubricants would be as good or better.

Says "they arranged a subjective test." Uh... Methinks they don't understand the difference between "subjective" and "objective." At least, I hope they don't! If it truly was a "subjective" test, then the results don't really mean anything.

I have been using the 50/50 mix for a few years, and it is cheep. HTH JD

ATF is high in detergents, and I also use it when changing fuel filters in my old Ford 7.3 L diesel. The truck is a 1989 and still has the original injector pump and injectors. I fill the filter housing with ATF and install the filter, start the engine up and let it lube and clean the HP injector pump and injectors. You might want to try it on your boat diesel engine.
