On a previous boat I used aerosol spray cans of carpet cleaner*. Vacuum the fur after the spray sets up dry.

I have used this on my mainship monkey fur. It turned a dark gray monkey fur into light gray monkey fur. It also smells better. Remember to remove the mattress from the V berth before you clean the fur because this machine drips a bit.

If the area is not too big, we have had success with spray on Oxyclean.
