After 25 years or so my dome was pretty crusty with that many years of bird encrustations. A 22" dome gives them lots of landing space! Pulled it off, decrusted, painted and re-decaled. Who knows it's lifespan now??....:)

Once you remove the protective layer of bird goop the lifespan is indeterminate.

Better still, mix cayenne pepper in the wax. Might be even better...I think. Actually, might work quite well as a bird deterrent..? ;)
 
Sea gulls in BC prefer Raymarine, the open arrays are the safest. Like my old one that didn't like to rotate.
