If looking for a Summer get together...
Consider a cruise for many to the South Jersey or Ocean City Maryland area.
The climate is nicer than the Bay in mid summer (usually) and it is only a couple hundred miles from either parts of LI, Jersey, or the Chesapeake.
The other way is doable...but then like in the other thread, you might consider it in early to mid October when the weather is still nice and the snowbirders can plan their trip to include it.
I believe some marinas at that point are already charging seasonal rates and in general there may be more spots available in one area.

We might be interested, anywhere from Maine to LIS would work. Haven't made any big plans for this summer, planning to just mostly just wing it.
Wouldn't be interested in a high-end "resort" marina. Anchoring, mooring or a reasonable marina would be more our speed.

We're planning on a trip up the Hudson, maybe late june, july, whenever the midgies head south.
Will probably spend a week in LI Sound, anchoring around Port Washington Manhasset Bay area, before heading up. Can't find any good anchorages in NY Harbor.
Will be back in area several weeks later unless we decide to head over to Lake Ontario.
Too early to plot the waypoints.
