I don't think so... but, that is funny!
Going the right direction now
Richard on Dauntless is now curving SW properly toward Martinique Isl.
He is down into the 17 degrees Latitude neighborhood which is a big step from where he was up in the 20 or 21 + degrees Latitude.
So as the winds are shifting & the seas & swells are moving he is swinging back on track for destination land fall.
Vessel on course --- Good job Skipper .
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to the skipper & crew and all the "MV - Dauntless" supporters here on TF.

4. How can I do it safely, no matter what?

A boat that for me made the right compromises. E.g. The large salon windows, great 99% of time

$1000 of 1/2" Lexan solved that vulnerability
Turns out more peace of mind than anything else, JK designed a boat that doesn't let waves hit any Windows

In all the storms and other admittedly stupid stuff I ventured into, my Lexan has never been tested.
Bef i knew what I know now, 3 yrs ago on LI Sound

I was powering into large, steep seas. Sick as hell, I just wanted to end the misery.
The bow would dive into the trough, anchor almost touching water
(1/2) 5.
A tremendous bow wave would go flying over the top of the fly bridge, leaving just some spray on the ph windows
(1/2) This trip we've had to stop 3x dead on water. 1st for oil check only a few min, but other 2 times for 20+ min for steering hose
In 15' seas, not uw, she bobs.
(1/2) I'll post the video of me in the laz, while Micah watches these big ass waves approaching and then disappearing under us
