Defever 44 or 48 purchasing in US or Europa

I'm in Tahiti.

After many years of sailing in Europa, Carribean Sea and French Polynesia I'm selling my boat.
I'm purchasing for a Defever 44 or a Defever 48 in US or in Europa.
Thanks for informations or experiences.

Welcome to the forum and good luck on your search for a Defever.

Yachtworld is the main internet site for boat listings in the US as well as some for Europe. There are 25 Defevers listed in the 44-48' range but all are US and one Canadian listing. No European ones. I suspect that Defever sold exclusively into the US which is why there are no European listings.

So I would focus my search on the US.

Are you taking the boat to Tahiti? That will be a challenge.

There was, for quite a while, a 44 for sale in Croatia. I haven't seen it listed for awhile, so it might have sold. Curtis Stokes has a lot of experience with the DeFever market; I would try to hire him as a buyer's broker. Good luck.

Yes the Defever 44 in Croatia was sold in 2013.

Purchasing a boat in Europe

Remember that most boats in Europe are wired for 220 volts at 50 cycles. This could cause you problems if you bring the boat to the US. If it was me and the US was to be my primary cruising area I'd prefer a boat wired for 110v 60c.
