Because of a sea water drip in the cooling system that existed before we bought our boat (since fixed) the elbow attaching the turbocharger oil return line to the oil pan got "a bit" corroded.

Anybody replace theirs? Any advice/tips?

A friend had his blow out...don't wanna go there!

Sounds like the elbow was steel. Is it NPT or the weird JIS fittings? If the latter, you might as well go with the Yanmar part and pay the price. Otherwise a brass fitting should work fine. No issues with materials incompatibility or brass dezincification above water.

Not sure of the fitting type yet...will find out when changing oil in a few weeks.

Thanks for the brass fitting / no incompatibility issues tip :thumb:

The Yanmar replacement part is cheap, even for Yanmar, but I'd rather go for a better alternative if possible.

Thanks again!
