Anyone know of a good anchorage at St. Simons Island. Heading there from Hilton Head in 2 days.
Thanks !!!

Went by there yesterday. What are you looking for and are you going ICW?

There is a CG designated anchorage just to the south of the Golden Isles Marina, now a MorningStar facility. It is to the West of the channel as you approach Golden Isles. (The Frederica River).

Water depth is plentiful and it is a safe anchorage. You can also dingy into Golden Isles where there are facilities and a good restaurant.

National will also drop off a rental car at the Marina if you want for sight seeing.

Access to and from the ICW takes minutes. In fact the Frederica River used to be the ICW when it was East of Lanier Island. Now the ICW is routed West of the island.

ActiveCapt. has quite a few listed.

That's very helpful!!! Plan to be there tomorrow night.
Thanks much!!

As mentioned the Frederica River is a good one with plenty of depth. Tides do run fairly strong throughout the Ga. coast. If continuing on South, it is only a very short few miles to Cumberland Isle. Unspoiled beauty, wild horses, submarines, worth a day or two.

Depending on speed that's another decent day's cruising south but yes, it should be on everyone's list.
