As the AIS positioning all over the map last summer and I found that I had to install a Furuno GPS antenna to correct the problem. Currently the mushroom sits on my Pilothouse dash and I want to relocate it where it belongs on the roof. In order to minimize the size of the hole in the roof and to thread the cable through the wire chase, I am going to have to cut the connector off. I believe it's a TNC-J connector, which is different than the VHF PL 259. Any advice?

There are non solder tnc connectors but like all others...suspect to get right.

Still easy enough to solder on....buy one off the net....or Hopkins Carter.

They aren't all reusable...some parts are but at the marine electronics place we switched to the crimp on type.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a go.

Or get a cable clam of the correct size. That way you can keep the factory installed plug, plus get a good seal around the cable when you ate done.
