KiwiGrip

Anyone have experience with this product? Looking for a nonskid product for the new cabin top.

I have not used it yet, but I am going to redo my decks with it next winter. I have corresponded with a couple of people that have used it and one had painted his decks 3+ years ago. He was very satisfied with it. It looks very easy to apply. Ask me in a year...

I put it on last year, I used a tight foam roller for a low profile texture. The roller they recommend will leave a texture that will shred bare feet. It is as tough as nails, covers and stretches over hairline cracks.

The down side, after two weeks it looks ten years old, its a dirt magnet and requires constant cleaning which is not easy

You might want to check out what is available from your local concrete epoxy guys. The days of just using one thing that has a poor finish are over. Check out any system with a full flake broadcast. Elite Crete has a great web site. All epoxy related.

Used Kiwigrip on a boat three years ago. Did a fiberglass bow repair myself. I wanted to cover up my mediocre fiberglass work and repaint the bow. It worked very well and covered my less than perfect repair.
Boat poker is correct. Because Kiwigrip has texture is works great to provide a nonslip surface but dirt loves to settle in the low spots in the texture. You'll need a high pressure water hose or brush to clean. The Kiwi grip I purchased was bright white therefore anything on it showed up.
Very easy to apply and clean up. Has stuck well. Seems to have resisted stains.

As far as cleaning, I was told that if you wax it with a surf board type of wax that it would clean much easier.

Based on how much sand I see sticking to surfboards...I wonder how true that really is?????

My Son's sailboat had the decks redone with it 5 years ago. Seems to be holding up well.

I used white and I'll be looking for something to overcoat it. I would not buy it again.

See General Maintenance/Deck paint suggestions from Feb - has some uswer reports and a suggestion ("Woody Wax") for limiting crud buildup.

My Son used a light grey over the original white . Looks nice when he washes it. But he thinks cleaning is a waste of time. Go figure.

I been pleased with it, 4 years old not that hard to clean.I used texture roller from home depot

Bluemainship - could you give me some guidance on the Home Depot textured rollers you bought? KG literature states that the finished texture depends on the roller and application force. At $25 per 9" KG roller cover, an alternate sounds in order. The pics I've seen suggest that the factory roller cover is a foam plastic of some sort.

I have had good luck with softread paint. http://store.acrytech.com/Soft-Tread-Anti-Slip-Coating-Standard-Colors.html The price is better if you have to a lot to do, my boat takes about 5 gallons for one coat.

Linzer rc119 loop texture roller.The KG roller makes the finish to aggressive for me,you got to roll it slow because it will spatter.Use a1/8 inch notch trowel to spread it

I have it on my fly bridge, cream color. Easy to apply. I used their roller. Has held up to daily use for over a year. It doesn't hurt my feet or even knees. Cleans fine with a brush and boat soap. I would use it again.

I used KiwiGrip with the supplied roller. Very happy with the results.

I'm still debating which non skid I want to use. I am concerned about the texture using the supplied roller being too aggressive. But yours looks really good. How does it feel under bare feet or bare butt?

Coverage was good, applied with a 1/8" notch trowel then rolled it out using medium pressure.

Feels fine on both and washes up well with a hose and long handled car wash brush.

If you don't like the texture it has sufficient working time to try several rollers and techniques.

I will use it again.

Just received six gallons of KiwiGrip in light grey. We will be addressing a couple areas of delamination on our '79 Cheoy Lee's teak decks, then sanding/cleaning/prepping the teak, covering with a layer of fiberglass, then finishing with KiwiGrip.

A guy here in the marina had it applied to his Westsail 32 three years ago and he loves it. The few others I've talked to that have KiwiGrip have also raved about it. We will, of course, be making a video of the entire process...

I think we're going to go with white Kiwigrip.

Beware light gray can get surprisingly hot. I had to change to off white could not walk on with bare feet.
