Moving Satori to LA

Want to share a few pics from the recent move.

Also want to try posting pics...

The story...

The 1985 "Fu Hua" is a taller vessel and the transporter said to remove everything above the flybridge.

Removed the visor rail and laid down the mast.

Boat was still to tall to get out of Pittsburg, CA... had to relocate to Ladds Marina in Stockton. Great mom and pop marina.

Satori gets hauled.

Satori on the truck. Moger Boat Transport is a total class act.

Satori on the highway. So scary... (yes, i know - distracted driving)

Satori at Marina Shipyard in Long Beach.

She is almost to her new home...

Great to see she survived all the bridges.
Should all be much easier from there.

Thanks for posting, great story. It's a money hemorrhage, but isn't it fun? When we moved ours we had to take it down to a certain height that was so close and so precise we had to remove the faucet fixture on the wet bar sink on the upper deck. Had to get that last four inches.

It's a grand thing to see, and grand to see it reassembled and lowered into the water where it belongs.

Sounds like the move went well. I'm curious given the relatively short distance in why you chose to move by truck rather than by water on it's own bottom?

Yup. throttle handles on the fly bridge had to come off... still ran 15-ft 7.5-inches on the trailer. interstate bridge are specified at 16-feet... that would be 4.5-inches clear at 60-mph.

So with the travel lifts, labor, trucking what did it roughly cost?

My labor to prep 16 hours at $100 per hour is 1600
Haul out with some extra labor such as drying the bilge is 400
Truck made an 800 mile round trip for 2400
Drop in with extras is 400
My labor to rebuild is another 1600
Or about 6400...

Not nearly as costly as I would have imagined. Easy to say when it's not my $6-7k.

The $3 per mile was less than I would have thought.

Just for the record...

Cruising from Long Beach to San Pedro.

Nice plus... boat is a bit faster in salt water...

In the new slip and beginning to be reassembeled...

Washed away the rainy day transport grime... that took a few hours.

Still need to re-mount the radar.
