Cheoy Lee

I am looking at a mid 80s 55 Cheoy Lee with a customer and the topic of the hull came up; my customer said he heard or read that these hulls were foam filled and not solid.* Can't say that* I know the answer.

Can anyone shed some light?

Ask the seller (broker?). I'm sure they would know and would not misrepresent the vessel. Your buyer has a right to be cautious regarding cored 30 year old hulls.

Mostly it depends on the a core was made of.

In the 80's hull cores were becoming more common on sailboats to lower the weight and make a stiffer boat.

Balsa cored was becoming more common on decks , but it does equal HIGH RISK for a 30 year old boat.

CL makes quality boat-s so an E mail to the builders will give an answer ,
