What a great boat.* She looks much bigger than a 33.* I love the big, covered aft deck.

Don,

With the dinghy hanging on the back I am charged for 40' of boat. The covered cockpit has become our salon since the inside salon/galley is pretty limited. We have less interior room than a Grand Banks 32 but a bigger and covered cockpit and nice covered side decks.**We actually added the hardtop over the cockpit in 2005.* The photo below shows how she originally looked.

You know what's funny, Steppen, all this time I thought your boat had no flybridge. Your avatar and the pic immediately above this post has something in the background that camouflages the flybridge. Anyway, great looking boat!!!

Hi Peter
the pics are taken at whangapoua on the coromandel penninsula. middle photo is taken from the beach where i live, island in background is great mercury. I too am ex Gisborne, lived there untill 1988,small world

I love this thread!!
Steppen, I am with Baker on this- I never noticed your boat had a bridge! That 2nd pic of your boat underway in Waddington bay....awesome shot. Some of these pics could be on a trawler forum calendar!!! Your boat definitely looks bigger than a 33.

Al- the pics of your 38 are great too.

Al, that is a great looking boat.* Where are the interior shots?* I guess I am a sucker for the Europa sedan style with covered aft and side decks and sloping fashion plates.* Very cool.

Moonstruck,
You had to egg me on.

Surveyor1, I'd like to ask you a question. What does your hull number start with?
I was told that my 38' FHB was a Nova. When I bought the Boat there was a blueprint - linedrawing of the boat with Nova printed at the bottom (by whoever did the blueprint). But in all my searches I am unable to find anything from the builder to indicate that the Fu Hwa yard produced a 38' Nova.

So I'm interested to see if your Nova starts it's hull number with FHB.

Agreed....love the Heritage West Indian!!!

Hi Guys, I'm back.* The shots below are not my boat, but where we've been the last 10 days.* The Pacific Sun out of Sydney.* Great time at Wala Is., Port Vila, & Mystery Islands, of Vanuatu, and Numea (New Caledonia).* Good to be back tho.* Al, that boat of yours sold/still sells here in Oz as the Mariner 39.* Lovely boat, and one I would love if opportunity presented to go up in size.

Hey Skip,
I thought da boat was 38' or so. After seeing the pics it still looks like 38. Love the soft and fuzzy wheelhouse**** ...and the knot** ty decoor. What's your displacement*** ..10-12 tons? Engine? You've done some nice things inside Skip. Looks like it would be cozzy in the winter. Thanks for the pics*** ..I've been wondering about your boat for a long.

Sure.* It's unimportant your boat looks more trawler-like than many here.* "Trawler life" on this forum is a frame of mind.

Trawlerguy,
I take it your boat was built on Gwynn's Island? Haven't seen one like her in these parts (Deltaville). She's a beauty tell us more about her.

Thanks Eric,
One Of the problems I have had with a one off boat. Not another one like her. I have no idea about displacement. And no way to find out short of weighing her. There is no way to do that where the boat is. She has a cat 3208 n.a. 210 hp 24x18 rh prop.

I think she was none to stable when she was built. As bilge keels were added as well as the para vanes. She is a little rocky tippy but with the stabilizers out she sure can take some rough water. Got caught in some bad weather off Hinchinbrook in the Gulf of Alaska.**Quite a bit of green water over the wheel house.

The rope work came from a free coil of 3/4 manila. sort of like a chittychittybangbang.
approach to putting her together.*What ever I can find.*I have used a lot of stuff most people don't put on boats.*Hey it works for me. Best part is she is all paid for and works great.

All the wood trim is from a nice birch out of a friends back yard. Milled it with a chain saw and a table saw. I used indoor outdoor carpet for the*bulkheads *and overhead
Once again I got a smokin deal on the carpet so I made use of it. All the fiberglass work I have done myself.

Sorry I'll get off now. You know how it is talking about your boat.

Conover Cove, Wallace Island with a Gulf Commander 38 or 42 behind you.

You have a good looking boat.

Great Manatee, DCBD! *I think the blue framed pilothouse windows help the look too. *She really looks in good shape.

DCBD:
Your Conover cove shot has our Saltspring house in the background. Nice shot!
