For Sale: old Ray-Line searchlight

I have for sale a great looking old 8" diameter, 12 volt Ray-Line searchlight. pivots and tilts. My understanding is that Ray-Line was bought out by Jabsco. I believe this light dates from the 50's or 60's.

I bought this light for my 1980 Sisu, but I realized I do not have the roof space for it. I have refurbished it with a new rubber boot, adjusting knobs, lithium greased all linkage and complete hand-polishing of the chrome. Light worked when connected to 12v battery. I do not have a switch, but the appropriate size will work fine and readily available. I would like $475 to cover my expenses plus shipping. I am selling it as it, but may eventually need a new bulb due to its age.

Yeah, I really wish it would have worked for me. I have totally refurbished my boat with a nice wood interior and this would have added nicely to the finish. But there just is no practical roof space left for mounting it. I hope someone can use it.

I have the 7" model they are really a well built light, I imagine the quality is much better than any that can be bought today. Mine is the remote controlled model, I was shocked when looking at the original parts list that the 2 filament bulb, spot and flood was $124.00 in 1987.

no doubt they are expensive. Specs say the light draws 17.4 amps and throws 500,000 candle power. that is one bright sucker!

Steelguy, is there anyway you can come out of the pilot house side? Kinda like a cop car. a neighbor has his mounted like that on the side of his flying bridge but his only works to the front and port side as the super structure blocks about 70 degrees of the 180.

I assume you are asking if I were to consider that for myself and not for your purchase. I suppose it might be possible, but I'm sure that was not its original design intent. IF THE WALL THICKNESS WAS FAIRLY substantial to lend the needed support, it could be done. But, the light measures 27" from top to bottom handle and the headlight section is where a majority of the weight. My sidewall thickness is 1/8" thick aluminum, so I know it would not work for me. Plus, I have large windows on both sides and still no room.

Yes sir, you assumed correctly. I have the same or very similar light on my pilot house. With all the work you put into it, I am sure you have already considered all the mounting options. A real shame as she is a beauty!
