Attention Snowbirds
Great Bridge "Free Dock", No Dockage:
Flint Construction Company has commenced demolition and reconstruction work at the City of Chesapeake Pier in the Chesapeake and Albemarle Canal in the vicinity of the Great Bridge Locks (36.723681°-76.247636°). Work is expected to take place from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm daily Monday through Saturday, with a completion date of 24 November, 2014. The crane barge can be contacted on Channels 13 and 16 VHF-FM. Mariners are requested to use caution when transiting the area and proceed with no wake. (5th District LNM Week 42/2014) NOTE: This is one of two "free docks" at Great Bridge. The first one encountered southbound on the west side of the bridge is open. The dock on the east side of the bridge, across from Atlantic Yacht Basin, is the one that is being demolished and rebuilt.*
