After putting my brother-in -law in hospital last time we anti fouled the boat,I thought this time I would let someone else do it.

I have got a few quotes, not much in it price wise. However some yards will roll the anti foul on and some will use an air less spray unit. It seems the 'rollers' do two coats and the 'sprayers' one, with a second touch up around the props and leading edges.

Just wondering if there is any accepted wisdom, as to roller application v spray.

We had our last boat painted at the Gold Coast City Marina, Coomera. They used a wet film thickness gauge. The applicator periodically checked as he went along. The finish coat was very smooth and he added extra thickness at the water line. It was also very quick. I liked the spraying better than rolling.

I asked the on-site International Paint rep and he said there should be no difference if the prep and application instructions were followed.
