Warning near la conner

At the Southern entrance to the Swinomish Chanel there is a submerged log in-between the red and the green markers. One of our club members hit it resulting in major damage to his GB. Pulled the shaft out of the coupler, broke the engine motor mounts and damaged the prop. Stay close to the Green marker. The Coast Guard has the LAT-LON for this thing.

Did they put a float on it?

There are tugs in LaConner so they probably just removed it.

I may see that GB soon as I'm at Latitude Marine and many of the boats damaged in the channel haul out there. So end of the channel at the dogleg.

Sometimes it gets only 3' deep at that point.

Local Notice to Mariners, District 13, Week 14/14

The USCG has verified a submerged tree is in the Swinomish Channel South Entrance in the vicinity of the northeast side of Swinomish Channel
South Entrance Lighted Buoy 2 (LLNR 18790). The tree was photographed at a +0.4 foot tide at approximately 48-21.6676N, 122-33.2537W.
The USACE is working on removing the tree. If the tree can be removed from the channel, a BNM will be released informing mariners of the
channel status. Mariners transit at the slowest safe speed, and use extreme caution.

It is not visible. Favor the green marker.

We did just that, on our way home to Mariners Cove. Used the range markers, then as we approached #2, moved to starboard. No worries.
