Battery temp sensor location

Currently installing a Xantrex TR inverter charger, 2412 60.
Instructions say-to install the temp sensor attach it to the battery, the unit has both sticky tape and a hole,

So do I attach it to a terminal or the body of the battery???

Never used one but IMHO I would say to put it on the body to ensure you are not overheating or boiling the batteries.

The terminal is a more solid connection and is directly connected to the plates through a heavy internal buss.

See the following link. The sensor can go on either place but the terminal is recommended.

My C-tek M200 marine charger has a temp probe one could only place on or next to the battery.
