Well, after looking at many many boats of all different kinds of favors we decided on a Grand Banks 36. Submitted an offer and it was accepted. Looking forward to the end of the search and being aboard the new boat.

Lots of reasons brought us the the GB, but one overriding feeling was that not matter how many boats we viewed, they all got compared to the GB in our minds and whenever we walked off a GB we always said, "that's a nice boat". So we decided to only focus on GB's and found one we like and can afford. We've been saving for years and almost decided to take out a small loan to do a 42, but kept our focus to not go into debt and will be able to cash out this boat. Pretty darn excited I must say. I've been lurking and learning from the GB forum since 2009 and now looking forward to saying we are new GB owners.

All the info I obtained from this forum was very valuable to us in our search. Now lets hope the survey goes as well as I think it should.

Surveyor

Making calls tomorrow to confirm the survey. Hoping to get Reisner, McKewen and Associates. Plan to do hull and mechanical.

Grand Banks are nice boats. Their workmanship is "serious." Hope it all works out (survey, etcetera).

Good outfit. Also check out John Baird of Zenith Maritime, and Bill Evans of Blue Water Surveyors- both are also top notch.

Congratulations, looking forward to seeing some pictures!

Congrats! Hope all goes well. We need some boat porn!!

Matt Harris of RM&A did the survey on our 32 and we were very pleased with his expertise and professionalism. He really knows GBs.

Welcome to GB land. They are great boats.

Fantastic news! The GB 36 is such a standard in the trawler style of boating. Sincere congrats.

Bill Evans has done two surveys for me so far. Great thurough guy.

RTF your post "the game is afoot" started my morning off perfectly. I needed that laugh. Looks like I now have a list of surveyors to work through and even a start on insurance. We currently use Boat US for our Willard so it will be nice to compare.

I will post pictures after a successful survey.

Looking forward to cruising.....

Congratulations Keith!

We looked at quite a number of GB's in our search, and every time the impression was that they were built the way a boat should be built. Great quality, great use of space for storage etc. You will enjoy her very much.

Where is she located?

Good luck on the surveys.

Looks like I now have a list of surveyors to work through and even a start on insurance.

On the recommendation of a number of people in the local marine industry, for insurance we went with Anchor Marine in Seattle when we got our GB. They are an insurance broker so shop for the best policy for the individual's needs. We have a yacht policy and have been very happy with them for the 14+ years we've owned the boat now.

Congrats on the GB.

I've used Reisner, McKewen twice. Stand tall surveys both times and they write a great report.

Survey

This coming Thursday we will have Bill Evans for our hull survey and Friday morning Kevin Abrose will do the mechanical. Haul out is at Citadel Marine in Tacome around 9 am Thursday. Low tides that day so we'll be on the hard until 2 ish. Looking forward to going through the boat with Bill and Kevin.
