Along those "fad" lines: I still recall a boss back in the 80s that steadfastly refused to get a fax machine, as he said he wouldn't ever need one. Finally got one, proceeded to use and depend on it more than anyone. I'll bet he used that thing until no one else could even receive a fax anymore...
